Terms and Conditions of Hire

A booking is accepted when we receive a deposit, with a completed Booking Form, and you receive written confirmation from us. Please check that the confirmation details are correct.

To secure your booking we require a deposit of 25% with the balance due 6 Weeks before the start of your holiday. If you are booking within 6 weeks of arrival the whole amount will be due on booking. Payments can be made by Cheque payable to ‘The Wriggly Tin’ or by Bank Transfer, please enquire for bank account details.

In the event of the hirer having failed to pay the full balance of the rent for the hire period six weeks prior to the commencement date of the hire period, we reserve the right to cancel the booking and re-let the cottage.  In such circumstances the owners shall be entitled to retain the deposit paid.

If the hirer has to cancel and pays the full balance on time, they can receive:

  • a 50% refund of the total cost if they cancel at least four weeks before check-in.
  • a 25% refund of the total cost if they cancel at least two weeks before check-in.

We strongly recommend you take out a cancellation insurance policy against this eventuality.

The Wriggly Tin will be available for you from 3.00 pm on the day of arrival. Parking is adjacent to the property for 2/3 cars or in the car park opposite. 2 Parking permits are available. We cannot be held responsible for any Parking Fines resulting from parking without payment or correctly displaying the permits in your vehicle whilst in the car park.

Please vacate the cottage by 10.00 am on the day of departure to allow us time to prepare the cottage for the next guests. You are requested to leave the Wriggly Tin in a tidy condition.  Please lock the door and either hand over the keys or post the keys through the letterbox of Dale View (next door) when you leave.

We expect that guests will make a certain level of noise and that you are on holiday.  We request that after 11PM noise is kept to the minimum.  Please let us know if there are exceptional circumstances which may change this

Damages and Breakages
We do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to guests’ personal effects or property whilst staying at The Wriggly Tin

We do appreciate that accidents can and do happen so please inform us of any breakages or damage so that we can make it good for the incoming guests

The use of the accommodation and amenities is entirely at the hirer’s risk and the owners accept no responsibility whatsoever for injury, loss or damage to the hirer and/or any member of the hirer’s party or to any vehicle or its contents whilst on the premises.

We reserve the right of reasonable access to the cottage at all times but where possible we will advise you in advance if access is required

We reserve the right (and at our sole discretion) to refuse or revoke any booking from a party who in our opinion may be unsuitable.


From August 2019 we will allow 2 well behaved dogs to stay.  Please use blanket provided for the dog to sit on furnishings, the dog must not be left alone in the house, must not be allowed into neighbouring field and all dog mess must be cleared from the garden.

Please note that The Wriggly Tin is strictly non-smoking. If you choose to smoke outside in the gardens/ patio areas please dispose of your cigarette ends sensibly. We reserve the right to seek compensation for any damage and additional costs of cleaning if the non-smoking policy is not observed.
